Creating a new article

Complete walkthrough of the New article wizard: topic, keywords, sources, generate.

New article wizard with topic step
The wizard locks direction before Research-to-Ready runs.

Open New article from the sidebar or the top bar. The wizard collects just enough context so the draft targets the right searches and sounds like your brand.

Step 1 — Topic and format

Describe what you are writing. RankForGEO may suggest an article type (how-to, comparison, listicle, and others). You can change the format anytime before generate.

Step 2 — Keywords

Pick a primary keyword and supporting terms. These guide structure and SEO optimization. You can research keywords first under Topics & Keywords if you are still exploring.

Step 3 — Your sources (optional but powerful)

Add URLs, pasted text, or notes only your team has — product docs, research, customer language. Unique sources make the article harder to copy and raise information gain.

Step 4 — Review and generate

Confirm keywords, writing style, and any extra instructions. Start generation. One publish-ready article typically counts as one unit of your monthly allowance.

Generation in progress after clicking generate
After generate, track Research-to-Ready stages until the draft is ready.

Tips for stronger first drafts

  • Add expertise only you know — numbers, process details, opinions
  • Attach primary sources for specialized or regulated topics
  • Match writing style to the channel (brand default vs founder voice)
  • Start from Content Gaps or Opportunities when you want demand-backed topics

Troubleshooting

Generate is disabled or blocked

Finish required wizard fields, confirm workspace setup is complete, and check Billing for remaining articles.

Wrong voice or niche

Update Writing Styles and Workspace Settings, then generate again with the correct style selected.
